Sculpture 2

As the notes say, "No camera in bag today" - a devastating omission, but hey, we have other ways of recording information. The slideshow included work by Scott King (a piece of text is sculpture?!), Steve McQueen (photography is sculpture?!), Anthony Gormley, Magdalena Adakanowitcz, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Helen Chadwick, Eduardo Paolozzi, George Segal, Maria von Kohler, Jeff Koons, Damian Hirst, Edward Keinholz, Tom Dixon, Werner Panton, Robert Indiana. Many of these names were new to me - and several are better known as "product designers".

The work part was to continue with the box project. At some point I had an idea that relates to ancient Assyrian law "books" - those clay tablets with the cuneiform writing. Apparently they had inside them another tablet, with the same text - and if the law was disputed, the tablet could be broken open to see if the text had been tampered with.
However I'm also still keen on the idea of "window boxes" and made a strip of them. (Working with tracing paper is a delight...)
When they're curled up, you lose the horizon line. Also, the frames aren't nicely stuck in place, but maybe the wonkiness is more desirable? What's this supposed to be "saying", though -- isn't the idea that first you decide what you want to say, and then you find the materials to say it with?
