Art I like - Ngozi Omeje

This photo of Nigerian potter Nogzi Omeje's "Couple" was seen in a current ceramics magazine in the library (I neglected to write down the details) - but not much of her work is available on the internet. Here is a story about her recent residency in Seattle.

Ngozi's pots and plates often remind me of Picasso with an extra warmth that is often comforting and yet more often awakening.

Her installation in Ballard was so very different from each angle I viewed, underneath, above, to the sides, . . .

I hope we have the opportunity to see much more of her work--it belongs in museums and homes.

I would love to see her work at some of the Weinstein Galleries in San Francisco displayed, the way they often do so well, amidst Picassos, Klees, and Matisses.

It is a modern work for the future. Her pottery is several decades ahead in the twentyfirst century.
