Art I like - Tara Donovan

Tara Donovan uses humble, ubiquitous materials in ways that make you pay attention to them - tarpaper, toothpicks, drinking straws, glue, pins, shattered glass, pencil stubs, paper plates ... 600,000 plastic cups ... small objects connected into large structures.

More works, and a short video about installing the roomful of plastic cups, are here. "Donovan doesn't start out with the design, but the objects, and then the work just sort of ... emerges" says the commentator. "It's problem-solving" says the artist.
