Lobou kuntig

My contribution to the potluck supper was "spicy red bean balls" (garnished with parsley grown in my window box) - a recipe from Armenia, found in this book, published in 1983 -
which I picked up about 20 years ago in a library sale for 10p. What a stroke of luck!

A search of the internet finds only one mention of "lobou kuntig", so here is the recipe.

400g can of kidney beans (or cook 175g dried beans) - rinse and drain
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 large clove garlic, crushed
110g (4 oz) ground walnuts
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground coriander
juice of 1 lemon
2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Lightly mash the beans with a fork or potato masher - there should be small pieces of bean and red skin.
Add all the remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly.
Keeping your hands damp with cold water or lemon juice, take lumps of the mixture and shape into small balls. Chill until ready to serve.
Arrange on a plate, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with another tablespoon of parsley.

Did you drain or wash the beans before mashing? Sounds like a really cool appetizer or tapas.

Yes, rinse and drain - I've added that - thanks for the reminder!
